Tesla to Launch RoboTaxi on August 8: First Self-Driving Car Without Steering Wheel
Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing company Tesla will unveil its self-driving car ‘Tesla RoboTaxi’ on August 8. Company owner Elon Musk provided this information on the social media platform X. However, he did not provide any information about RoboTaxi.
Musk Working on Tesla’s Automatic Electric Car for a Long Time
Elon Musk has been working on Tesla’s automatic electric car for a long time. In April 2019, the company had said that the control of RoboTaxis could start by 2020.
The company estimates that the automatic car will run for 11 years, covering a distance of 1 million miles or more. Because of this, the company and car operators will benefit from over $30,000 annually.
RoboTaxi to Be a Self-Driving Car Without Steering Wheel
According to media reports, Tesla’s RoboTaxi car will not have clutch, brake, and accelerator pedals. At the same time, it will be a self-driving car that moves without a steering wheel. Musk had previously said that with complete self-driving capability, Tesla cars will gradually become better at driving through software updates.
Cars to Work as Autonomous Taxis in Some Time
He had said earlier that after some time, the car will be able to work as fully autonomous taxis. Such cars can drive themselves as taxis for their owners and earn money.
Tesla Starts Making Cars for India
Recently, the Hindustan Times reported that Tesla has started producing right-hand drive cars for India at its Gigafactory in Berlin. The company can bring cars to the country by the end of this year.
On April 3, the Financial Times of Britain had reported that Tesla will send a team to India this month to search for a location for an electric car production plant worth $2 to $3 billion (₹16,000 to ₹25,000 crore).
