Microsoft Server Down: Tech Services Halt in US and Australia, Airports and Stations in Chaos
Global Flight Disruptions Due to Microsoft Cloud Service Issues
Today, Friday (July 19), major flight disruptions occurred worldwide, including in India, due to technical problems with Microsoft Corporation’s cloud services. Several flights were canceled, and many others were delayed.
In India, four airlines—IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Air India Express—reported that their booking, check-in, and flight update services were affected due to these technical issues. Passengers faced difficulties at airports due to the lack of service.
The problems stemmed from Microsoft Azure cloud and Microsoft 365 services. Microsoft stated, “We are aware of the issue and have multiple teams working to resolve it. We have identified the cause.”
Booking, Check-in, and Other Online Services Affected
Akasa Airlines mentioned that some of their online services at Mumbai and Delhi airports would be temporarily unavailable. They stated, “Our booking and check-in services, among other online services, will be temporarily unavailable.”
SpiceJet reported, “We are currently facing technical issues in updating about flight disruptions. Our team is actively working on a resolution. We apologize for any inconvenience and will inform you once the issue is resolved.”
The American ultra-low-cost airline Frontier posted on social media, “Our systems are currently affected by a Microsoft outage, impacting other companies as well. During this time, booking, check-in, access to your boarding pass, and some flights may be affected. We appreciate your patience.”
Sky News Broadcast Halted in the UK
Due to Microsoft’s technical issues, Sky News channel’s broadcast in the UK was halted. The company’s executive chairman mentioned that the channel had not been able to broadcast live since this morning.
Australian Telecom Company Telstra Group Affected
The Australian telecom company Telstra Group also faced disruptions. The company stated, “Some of our systems are impacted by Microsoft’s technical issues. This problem is causing slight disruptions for some of our customers, and we appreciate your patience.”
