Microsoft Revamps Keyboards: Introduces Dedicated Button for AI Chatbot ‘Co-Pilot’ Next to Alt-Key After 30 Years

Microsoft has made significant changes to the laptop and PC keyboards almost 30 years later. The tech company has introduced a new button in the keyboard for its AI chatbot ‘Co-Pilot’. Along with this, the company is demanding to make the user experience smoother. Microsoft has replaced the ‘Windows Key’ with the ‘Co-Pilot Key’ on the left side of most keyboards, which will be placed next to the ‘Alt’ key, differing from the original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and other markets. The new button features the ‘Co-Pilot’ logo.

Currently, this change is applicable to personal computers running Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system. Microsoft last redesigned the keyboard layout in 1994. After this, it is the first time the company has made a change in the keyboard layout.

If Co-Pilot is not available in your country, the Windows Search will launch instead. If Windows Co-Pilot is not available, it will launch Windows Search as an alternative. The current Windows key opens the Start menu or, with other key presses, can be used for various other shortcuts.
