Apple’s ‘Wanderlust’ Event on Sept 12: Introducing iPhone 15 Series, Watch Series 9, and Ultra 2 Watch

Apple’s biggest annual launch event is set for September 12th. This year, the event is named ‘Wanderlust’ and will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple’s headquarters in California. According to Indian time, the event will start at 10:30 PM and will be live-streamed online.

At this event, Apple could launch not only the iPhone 15 series but also the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. However, there is no confirmed information about the products to be launched at this event.

Company can also announce the rollout date of iOS 17 operating system at the ‘Apple Wanderlust’ event. The unveiling of iOS 17 features had taken place three months prior at the WWDC23 event. iOS 17 will offer features such as live voice mail transcription, capability to record FaceTime messages, and personalized contact posters.

If someone misses a call, after receiving the iOS 17 update in their device, users can send recorded FaceTime messages. Alongside, the Voice Command feature can now be triggered only by saying ‘Siri,’ not ‘Hey Siri.’ Users can now also use offline maps. Currently, iOS 17 is in the beta testing phase.

Every year in September, the company launches new iPhones. Annually, Apple introduces various products alongside the new iPhone series in September. This year, the company can launch iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

According to media reports, the most premium iPhone of the year could be the iPhone 15 Pro Max, featuring a titanium frame and periscope camera. It might also come with the new A17 Bionic chipset and support 150W fast charging.

Foxconn is manufacturing iPhone 15 in India.

The Taiwan-based electronics manufacturing company, Foxconn, is producing iPhone 15 at its plant in Tamil Nadu, India. To expedite production, Foxconn is expanding production lines at its Chennai plant.

In India, iPhones have been manufactured since 2017.

Apple began manufacturing iPhones in India with the iPhone SE in 2017. It has three electronic manufacturing services (EMS) partners – Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron. After iPhone SE, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 were also manufactured in India. Foxconn’s plant is located near Chennai in Sriperumbudur.

Apple’s involvement is part of India’s PLI scheme.

Apple’s three contract manufacturers (Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron) are part of India’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme worth ₹41,000 crore. This scheme has boosted iPhone production in India. The PLI scheme was initiated by the Indian government in 2020.
