Apple to Open Four More Flagship Stores in India: Currently One Store Each in Mumbai and Delhi, Apple Sets Revenue Record in India
Apple will open four more flagship stores in India in the upcoming months. Currently, there is one store each in Mumbai and Delhi. This announcement was made by the company’s CEO, Tim Cook, during the quarterly results presentation. The decision comes in response to an increase in iPhone sales.
Tim Cook stated, “Sales of the iPhone have risen in every region, setting new global records. India has also reported record-high revenue.”
Cook mentioned that Apple recorded a global revenue of $94.9 billion in the September quarter, which is a 6% increase compared to last year. Revenue from iPhones alone increased by 6%.
Apple Currently Operates Two Stores in India
Apple currently has two stores in India: ‘Apple BKC’ in Mumbai, opened on April 18, 2023, and ‘Apple Saket’ in Delhi, opened on April 20, 2023. Both stores were inaugurated by Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Chief Financial Officer Luca Maestri reported an 8% increase in iPad revenue, noting that the iPad, aside from the iPhone, has also set revenue records in India. Globally, iPad revenue has grown by 8% year-over-year.
Luca stated, “In addition to growth in developed markets, we have seen strong performance in emerging markets with double-digit growth in Mexico, Brazil, the Middle East, India, and South Asia.”
Apple Expands Rapidly in Smaller Cities
Senior Research Analyst Prachir Singh stated that Apple is expanding rapidly in smaller cities. Customers are increasingly investing in premium smartphones. Due to its aspirational branding, Apple remains the top choice for premium buyers.
Apple Holds 22% Share of India’s Smartphone Market
According to Counterpoint Research, Apple now holds a 22% share of the smartphone market in India, ranking second after Samsung. With the upcoming launch of the iPhone 16 ahead of the festive season, Apple’s position is expected to strengthen further.
