Google Pixel 8a Smartphone Launched with AI Features: Live Translation and Noise Cancellation During Calls, Starting at ₹52,999

Google has introduced its new Pixel 8 series smartphone, the Google Pixel 8a, in India. It comes with the Tensor G3 chipset along with many premium AI features. The smartphone sees significant upgrades from the Pixel 7a in terms of specifications. 

It features a 120Hz refresh rate OLED display, a 64-megapixel primary camera, and a 4492mAh battery, among many other functionalities. Google has announced the launch of the new smartphone through its blog posts and the social media platform X.

Pixel A Series’ Most Premium Smartphone

Google’s latest offering, the Pixel 8a, is the most premium smartphone in the Pixel A series lineup to date. It features a matte black and aluminum frame, providing a sophisticated design. The phone is also IP67 rated, making it water and dust resistant.

Its display boasts a 40% increase in brightness compared to the Pixel 7a. Additionally, the company has introduced 256GB of internal storage for the first time in this series. The phone comes equipped with many AI features such as clear calling, live translation, audio magic eraser, and search anywhere.

Price and Availability of Google Pixel 8a

The Google Pixel 8a has been launched in India with two storage variants – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. Its price starts from ₹52,999 and goes up to ₹59,999 for the top variant. Pre-booking has started, and the phone will be available for purchase from the e-commerce website Flipkart starting May 14th at 6:30 AM.

Customers purchasing the phone via select bank cards will receive a cashback of ₹4,000. Additionally, the Pixel Buds A series buds will be available for just ₹999. Apart from this, a no-cost EMI option for 12 months will also be available for phone purchases. The phone comes in four color options: Obsidian, Porcelain, Khaki, and Limited Edition.

Key Features of Google Pixel 8a

Display: The smartphone features a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display that operates at a 120Hz refresh rate. It boasts HDR brightness of 1400 nits and peak brightness of 2000 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Processor: Powered by the Tensor G3 chipset, the Pixel 8a includes the Titan M2 security chip for enhanced protection.

Storage: Offering 8GB LPDDR5x RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage options.

Camera: The Pixel 8a sports a dual rear camera setup with LED flash, featuring a 64MP wide-angle camera with 8x super resolution zoom and optical/electronic image stabilization. It also includes a 13MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies and video calls, there’s a 13MP front lens. The phone is equipped with various AI features including Magic Editor, Best Take, and Audio Magic Eraser, along with Ultra HDR mode.

Battery: With a 4,492mAh battery, the Pixel 8a supports fast charging and wireless QI charging. Google claims it can offer extreme battery saver mode for up to 24 to 72 hours.

Other Features: It includes an in-display fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi 6, and support for ISRO’s NavIC GPS.
OS: Running on Android 14, the phone will receive OS and security updates for up to 7 years.
