Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Preview: Launching in 3 Months

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train to Launch by December: A Glimpse of the Future of Indian Railways

The Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled the first model of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train on Sunday, September 1st, at the BEML factory in Bengaluru. This new train is expected to revolutionize overnight travel in India, with its official launch scheduled within the next three months.

The manufacturing of the coach is now complete, and the train will soon roll out from the BEML factory. The Railway Minister mentioned that the testing phase of the train will last for two months before it becomes operational for passengers.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is designed to cover distances ranging from 800 to 1200 kilometers. Passengers will board the train around 10 PM and reach their destination by morning, making it a convenient option for overnight travel. The fare is expected to be similar to that of the Rajdhani Express, targeting the middle-class traveler.

World-Class Design and Safety Features

Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train incorporates advanced technology, including a new coupler mechanism that reduces the train’s weight while increasing its strength. This component, made of austenitic steel, connects two coaches and enhances the train’s overall performance.

Special attention has been given to weight balance and stability during the train’s design process. The mechanical components between the wheels and the track have been uniquely designed to minimize vibrations and noise within the train.

The Minister confidently stated that the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train would rank among the world’s best trains. The coaches and toilets have been upgraded, and the train features several safety enhancements, including a dedicated cabin for maintenance staff.

Aiming to Reduce Long-Distance Travel Time

With the introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, Indian Railways aims to significantly reduce long-distance travel times, particularly on routes like Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata. However, the exact routes on which this train will operate have yet to be finalized.
