Two Trains Collide on Same Track: TMC Leader Criticizes Government; Railways Deny Video’s Validity

In the first seven months of 2024, there have been seven major train accidents in the country, resulting in the deaths of 16 people and injuring 100. Recently, on July 30, a train accident occurred in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, where the Mumbai-Howrah Express collided with a derailed goods train.

Viral Video Raises Concerns About Indian Railways

Amidst the ongoing train accidents, a video is rapidly going viral on social media. In this video, two trains can be seen approaching each other on the same track. TMC spokesperson Riju Dutta tweeted this 28-second video clip, raising several questions about Indian Railways.

In his tweet, Riju wrote: “An accident was narrowly avoided, but are we waiting for a major disaster? In this video, Bardhaman Local and Vande Bharat approached each other at the same time on the Bawda Bardhaman chord line. The visuals are from the Sibaichandi railway station on the Howrah Bardhaman chord line. Both trains had approximately 800-1200 passengers on board.”

TMC Spokesperson Questions the Safety of Indian Railways

What is happening with Indian Railways? Any comments, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav? How many bodies do you need, Mr. Narendra Modi, before dismissing this incompetent minister and making extensive reforms in the railway sector? Is this a conspiracy to justify the complete privatization of Indian Railways? India demands answers!

Riju Datta’s Tweet Gains Popularity

Riju Datta’s tweet has been liked by more than 5,000 people. By the time this news was written, it had been reposted over 3,000 times.

A similar claim was made by a verified X user named Pritesh Shah. In his tweet, Pritesh wrote: “Yesterday in the parliament, the Railway Minister cornered the opposition over safety concerns. At the same time, a collision was avoided at the Sibachandi Railway Station as the Bardhaman Local and Vande Bharat Express came on the same track; the lives of approximately 800-1200 passengers were at risk. Eventually, a major accident was averted, but the risk still remains.

What is the Truth Behind the Viral Video?

The truth about the viral video has been shared by Eastern Railway through its official X account. In their tweet, Eastern Railway stated:

“This video is misleading. The 36071 Howrah-Gurap local train was stopped outside the Cheragram railway station at 6:20 PM. The Vande Bharat train was moving on this track at a predetermined speed following all signals. This section is managed by automatic signals, and movement occurs only by following the determined process of the auto signaling area. There is nothing unusual about it. Railway operations are entirely safe. It seems that this video was posted with the intent to create unrest and confusion among people.

Trains on the Same Track Claim is Misleading

It is clear that the claim of two trains carelessly coming towards each other on the same track and compromising passenger safety is completely false and misleading. According to the official statement from the railway authorities, this entire operation was conducted according to the prescribed procedures, and there was nothing unusual about it.
