Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Kedarnath: Pilot’s Prudence Saves 7 Lives
Emergency Landing of Helicopter at Kedarnath Dham
On Friday morning, an emergency landing of a helicopter occurred at Kedarnath Dham. The pilot and 6 passengers on board the helicopter are safe. These passengers were heading to Kedarnath Dham for darshan from Sirsi Heliport. Afterward, a technical fault was detected in the helicopter. Before landing at the helipad, it started to wobble in the air. Subsequently, it made an emergency landing. All passengers were safely evacuated. The DGCA has ordered an investigation into the incident.
District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajawat stated that the helicopter belongs to a private aviation company. It started wobbling approximately 100 meters before reaching the helipad. Captain Kalpesh was flying the helicopter.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police and administrative officials reached the scene and assisted the passengers, escorting them safely to the temple.
Among the six passengers onboard the helicopter were devotees from Tamil Nadu – Shivaaji, Ullubankat Chalam, Maheshwari, Sundara Raj, Sumathi, and Mayur Baghwani.
If you are considering going on the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, it’s advisable to postpone it for a few days because arrangements have been disrupted due to the crowd. The lack of registrations from travelers led to this situation. Stringent actions have been initiated since Wednesday to improve the arrangements, with senior officials reaching the site. So far, 2,76,416 devotees have completed the Char Dham pilgrimage.
The Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand started on May 10th. The gates of Kedarnath and Yamunotri opened at 6:55 AM and 10:29 AM respectively. The gate of Gangotri Dham was opened at 12:25 PM. Meanwhile, the darshan at Badrinath Temple began from May 12th.
After the opening of the Kedarnath Temple gates, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami along with his wife arrived for darshan. Due to the crowd, the first day witnessed considerable chaos here.
