Ahmedabad Airport Taxi Fare: Know the Minimum Fare and Per Kilometer Charges
Passengers at Ahmedabad Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport can now avail themselves of city taxis. Additional facilities have been added for passengers, as earlier they had 7 options, but now there’s an increase in the availability of city taxis. The minimum fare for city taxis is set at ₹37.50, which means passengers will be charged the minimum fare when the meter starts. After that, there will be an increase of ₹25 for every kilometer. With the increasing connectivity of flights at the airport, passenger traffic is also steadily increasing day by day. Therefore, the decision to provide facilities for passengers to commute has been made.
Until now, there were 7 options available for passengers traveling from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport to any location in Ahmedabad. These included self-drive cars, rental cars, Ola, Uber, prepaid auto-rickshaws/taxis, BRTS buses, and recently introduced AC Volvo buses from Rajkot to Ahmedabad Airport. However, a new facility is now available for passengers to travel from the airport to any other location in the city or from the airport to other locations. This facility includes city taxis, similar to the concept of black and yellow taxis in Mumbai. Gradually, the availability of such taxis is increasing in the city as well.
The minimum fare for the city taxi operated by Ahmedabad Airport has been set at Rs. 37.50. This means that passengers will be charged this minimum fare as soon as the meter starts. After that, there will be an increase of Rs. 25 for every kilometer traveled. Additionally, there will be an increase of Rs. 2.5 at every point. Kishor Chaudhary, the head of the City Taxi Jagruti Welfare Association, stated that currently, 30 such well-equipped meter taxis have been introduced at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad. However, in the coming days, the number will be increased to 50.
A special type of digital meter has been installed in 30 taxis for starting city taxi services at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. These taxis will be allocated space in the parking near Terminal 2, while the rest of the taxis will also be accommodated. The government has mandated that only taxis equipped with approved digital meters will be allowed to ferry passengers. Kishorbhai Chaudhary mentioned that the city taxi project is currently underway with the cooperation of the Welfare Association. Approval for this service was granted by the Commissioner of Transport (COT) on February 14. Shortly, the operation of city taxis will extend to railway stations, ST bus stands, and government offices.
The pilot project for this service began at Ahmedabad Airport 15 days ago. Then, on February 17, the inauguration of this service was carried out by Safin Hasan, the Traffic Deputy Commissioner of Eastern Ahmedabad. Due to the increased facilities for air travelers at Ahmedabad Airport, the launch of city taxi services was initiated. This initiative may have a significant impact on regular auto taxi drivers’ business, but it will ensure organized facilities for airport passengers. With this type of city taxi, four passengers along with one driver, totaling five individuals, will be able to travel. The government has approved the use of 5-seater cars as taxis for this purpose.
