Swiggy Launches Food Delivery Service on Water: Shikara Delivery on Dal Lake
Swiggy has now launched its food delivery services over water as well. The company has started its services from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Swiggy stated that it has expanded its services to deliver food to the iconic houseboats on Dal Lake in Srinagar. The company’s delivery partners will use boats to reach these houseboats for food delivery.
Swiggy has partnered with local operators for delivery operations.
Swiggy has announced that to ensure delivery to tourist attractions, the company has partnered with local operators. According to the company’s statement, these operators will also be given additional incentives for extended delivery hours as per the company’s newspaper list.
Swiggy has announced that its mission is to provide services to customers without overlooking their locations, through its “Swiggy Houseboat Delivery” initiative. Swiggy began operations in Srinagar in 2022, with over 300 restaurants from the city being included on the company’s platform.
In addition, Swiggy has partnered with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to deliver food to passengers on trains. Swiggy is also collaborating with IRCTC to provide food delivery services to passengers on trains in four cities – Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada. The company plans to expand this service to more than 59 railway stations in the coming months, offering passengers more food options during their travels.
IRCTC has been offering food delivery services at approximately 350 major railway stations even before. Sanjay Kumar Jain, the boss of IRCTC, stated that they have been offering food delivery services at around 350 major railway stations even before. This makes it convenient to deliver food when trains are halted for a short period, ensuring ease of food delivery. To accomplish this, they collaborate with 17 different companies, including Zomato.
Currently, they serve at four railway stations through Swiggy’s services. This is the second time they have partnered with a food delivery service company, previously collaborating with Zomato to deliver pre-ordered meals at railway stations in New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi last year. They have been earning a revenue of 30 crore rupees by selling meals to around 60,000 passengers daily, without any complaints.
