Ahmedabad Residents Beware: Sale of Inedible Items on the Rise

If you are ordering food from outside, make sure to check it carefully, as the sale of inedible items is increasing day by day in the city. In the Maninagar area, a shop named Gwalior Sweets sold online sweets and snacks, among which inedible laddus covered in mold were found. The customer lodged a complaint with the Municipal Corporation’s food department. Upon investigation, it was found that the laddus kept for sale were moldy, and there was no information regarding the expiry date. Consequently, the food department has issued a notice and sealed Gwalior Sweets.

Mold Found on Laddus

The Doshi family, residing in the Maninagar area, had ordered sweets and snacks online through the Zomato application from a shop named Gwalior Sweets in Maninagar to offer to God on the first Monday of the Shravan month. The ordered items included sweet boondi, Kanpuri laddus, and snacks. When they checked the laddus, they found mold on them. The laddus appeared to be stale and moldy. The Doshi family immediately informed the food department team of the Municipal Corporation.

Food Department Sealed Gwalior Sweets

Photographs and videos of the moldy laddus were sent to Dr. Bhavin Joshi, head of the food department. Consequently, a team from the food department investigated Gwalior Sweets. Upon inspection, they found visible mold on the laddus kept for sale. There was no information regarding the manufacturing or expiry date on the sweets. Hence, the food department has taken action to seal Gwalior Sweets.
