Cockroach Found in Sambar at Ahmedabad’s 5-Star Hotel Hyatt in Vastrapur, Chef Says “Such Incidents Happen Often”; AMC Seals Kitchen

Incidents of pests and insects being found in food items are on the rise in the city. In one such incident, a customer dining at the Hyatt Hotel in the Vastrapur area found a Cockroach in their sambar. The customer filed a complaint regarding this matter. 

A video of the Cockroach in the sambar from the Hyatt Hotel went viral on social media. Upon receiving the complaint, the Municipal Corporation’s food department conducted an inspection and subsequently sealed the kitchen of the Hyatt Hotel in Vastrapur.

Hotel Kitchen Sealed: Food Department

Dr. Bhavin Joshi of the Municipal Corporation’s Food Department informed Source that a complaint was received regarding a Cockroach found in the sambar at the Hyatt Hotel in Vastrapur. 

Following the complaint, a team conducted an inspection, and the hotel’s kitchen was immediately sealed.

Contract Given to Ruchi Hospitality

The Hyatt Hotel in the Vastrapur area of the city hosted a company dinner, which included items like idli sambar. When an employee of the company took the idli sambar home and began eating, they suddenly noticed something in the sambar. 

Upon closer inspection, they found what appeared to be a Cockroach. After taking it out, they confirmed it was a dead Cockroach. The employee started recording a video of the incident and called the hotel’s staff and manager. The food contract at the Hyatt Hotel in Vastrapur was given to Ruchi Hospitality Private Limited.

“Such Incidents Happen Often”: Hotel Chef

When the current chef of the hotel was shown the video, he remarked that such incidents happen often. The Cockroach in the sambar was also shown to the hotel manager, who was then filed a complaint. Despite the complaint, no response was provided by the manager. 

The Municipal Corporation’s Food Department was informed about the issue and provided with the video evidence. Following this, the food department’s team conducted an immediate inspection of the Hyatt Hotel’s kitchen and took action to seal it.
