India: Cancer Incidence Higher in Women than Men – In India, the incidence of cancer has been higher in women compared to men. In 2022, India recorded 14.13 lakh new cases of cancer, with 7.22 lakh cases affecting women and 6.91 lakh cases affecting men. Additionally, 9.16 lakh individuals succumbed to cancer in the same year. The statistics underscore the pressing need for effective cancer prevention and treatment measures globally.

Companies and Governments in Cancer Care

The British government has entered into an agreement with the German company BioNTech for the development of a cancer vaccine. The aim is to target treatments for 10,000 cancer patients by 2030. Meanwhile, companies like Moderna and Merck are actively working on vaccines for skin cancer, offering hope for reducing mortality rates associated with the disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved six vaccines for various types of cancer, including cervical cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis B, and others.
