Question: Whether at the gym or home, many people experience symptoms before a heart attack, but many also ignore them. What are these symptoms?

Answer: Experts claim that more than one-third of people experience certain symptoms in their body about a week before a heart attack. However, many tend to ignore these symptoms.

According to Jonathan A. Drezner, Director of Sports Cardiology at Washington University, if you experience any of these symptoms, you should seek medical advice immediately:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Headache
  • Excessive fatigue

Question: Should people with pre-existing heart conditions go to the gym?

Answer: Even if people with heart conditions go to the gym, they should avoid heavy workouts. According to Vadodara-based cardiologist Dr. Vikas Anand Patel, individuals with heart conditions face the risk of increased pressure on the heart due to heavy workouts, which could potentially lead to a heart attack.

Question: Should patients with high blood pressure go to the gym? If yes, what type of exercise should they avoid?

Answer: There is no problem with these individuals going to the gym, but they should take more rest during exercise. They should avoid exercises that put excessive pressure on the heart and cause shortness of breath.

Question: Can diabetic patients go to the gym?

Answer: Diabetic patients can go to the gym, but their workout schedule should be different. The gym trainer should prepare a diet chart and schedule that takes their condition into account.

Question: Is there a specific age for going to the gym?

Answer: People generally consider going to the gym after turning 18, but it is not restricted to that age. One can start going to the gym even after the age of 12-13.
