Volkswagen Tiguan Deep Black Pearl Variant Launches: 5-Star Safety, 40+ Features, Rivals Honda City, Kia Seltos

Volkswagen India has launched the Deep Black Pearl color variant for its popular SUV Taigun and sedan Virtus in the Indian market today (December 4). The German car manufacturer has introduced this special color option in both cars’ top-line variants. Both cars have achieved a 5-star safety rating in the global NCAP and come equipped with over 40 safety features, including 6 airbags.

Taigun and Virtus Deep Black Pearl Variants: Pricing and Features

The top-line variant of Volkswagen Taigun in the Deep Black Pearl color is priced from INR 15.84 lakh to INR 17.60 lakh. It competes with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyrider, Skoda Kushaq, Citroen C3 Aircross, Honda Elevate, and MG Astor. The Volkswagen Virtus Deep Black Pearl variant is priced between INR 14.90 lakh and INR 16.48 lakh (all prices ex-showroom), competing with Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Ciaz. Bookings for both cars have already begun through the company’s website or authorized dealerships.

Special Discounts on Car Purchase Up to 1.46 Lakhs

Volkswagen is offering discounts of up to INR 1.46 lakhs on the Taigun SUV this month. The offer includes an exchange bonus of INR 40,000, a cash discount of INR 40,000, and a corporate discount of INR 30,000. Additionally, customers can benefit from a special offer of INR 36,000 on Volkswagen cars. These offers are valid until December 31, 2023.

What’s New in Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus Deep Black Pearl?

The top-line variants of Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus now come with the option of the Deep Black Pearl color. Chrome elements have been added to the door handles and front and rear bumpers of both cars. Apart from this, there have been no exterior or interior changes in both cars.

Volkswagen and Virtus Sound Edition: Performance Upgrades

There have been no mechanical changes in both cars. Both feature a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine generating 113 HP of maximum power and 178 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Regular Volkswagen and Virtus models are powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder TSI EVO engine producing 148 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options for this engine include a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Safety Features with 5-Star Safety Rating and Over 40 Security Features

For passenger safety, the Tigun and Vertus come with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), reverse camera, tire pressure monitoring system, driver alert system, ABS, ESP, ASR, EDL, auto hold, hill start assist, and hill descent control. They boast more than 40 safety features that provide control in various situations. Both cars have received a 5-star safety rating in crash tests conducted by Global NCAP.
