Toyota Launches Most Affordable SUV in India: Urban Cruiser Teaser Promises 22.8 km/l Mileage
Today (April 3), Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched its most affordable SUV, the ‘Urban Cruiser Teaser,’ in the Indian market. The company claims that this car will provide a mileage of 22.8 kmpl.
Based on Maruti Suzuki’s platform, this is the most affordable SUV from the company. Its prices start from ₹7.73 lakhs and go up to ₹13.03 lakhs for the top-end variant, both prices being ex-showroom.
Toyota has started bookings for the car from today onwards and its delivery will also commence shortly. The company has offered this car in 12 variants and 8 color options.
It is also available with CNG, priced at ₹8.71 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Toyota Teaser will directly compete with Maruti Suzuki’s offerings. Furthermore, it will compete with other cars in India such as Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and others.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Teaser: Exterior Design
Talking about the design, the body structure of the Urban Cruiser Teaser is similar to the Brezza, but it has undergone some cosmetic changes that make it look different from the Brezza. It includes a newly designed honeycomb pattern front grille and a new front bumper.
LED DRLs in the front have been replaced with a new linear design instead of three cubes. There are also improvements made to the taillights, which now feature a full-width light bar at the front. The Teaser comes with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Teaser: Interior and Features
The Teaser’s cabin and dashboard layout are similar to the Maruti Suzuki Swift, although it is distinguished by Toyota badging. The Urban Cruiser Teaser features dual-tone brown and black upholstery.
In terms of features, the SUV comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility along with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, automatic climate control, connected car tech, OTA updates, auto LED headlights with DRLs, 360-degree camera, head-up display, wireless charger, Smart Connectivitiy, and more.
Additionally, it offers tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, 6-speaker sound system, semi-digital cluster, push-button start, rear AC vents, cruise control, head-up display, and a 360-degree camera.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Teaser: Performance
When it comes to performance, the Teaser is offered with Franxx-like engine options. It includes a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which generates 90hp of power and 113Nm of torque.
This engine produces 77.5hp of power and 98.5Nm of torque when paired with CNG. For transmission, options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox with the petrol engine. The CNG variant is available only with a manual transmission.
Another engine option is a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which delivers 100hp of power and 147Nm of torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
