Skoda Prepares to Launch New Sub-Compact SUV in India: Set to Debut in the Coming Year; Targets Selling 1 Lakh Cars by 2026

Skoda, the Czech Republic-based car company, is gearing up to launch a new sub-compact SUV in India. The company has been teasing the upcoming sub-compact SUV on its official website and social media platforms. This new SUV will compete with Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza in the Indian market. 

Skoda aims to sell 1 lakh cars in India by 2026. The CEO of the company, Klaus-Gerhard Wolpert, stated that Skoda Auto has approved its upcoming investments for India, focusing on the production of compact SUVs and electric vehicles.

Indian Market to Highlight New Entry in SUV Series

Skoda India has recently highlighted a new entry in the compact SUV category on its social media platforms. This new chapter will emphasize the entry into the compact SUV category, which is one of the largest segments in the Indian market.

New Sub-Compact SUV to Be Based on MQB A0 IN Platform

According to media reports, the new sub-compact SUV will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which is expected to follow the footsteps of the SUV Kushaq and Slavia. The company could potentially launch this car within the first 6 months of 2025. However, Skoda has not provided any information regarding the launch date, features, or engine specifications of the vehicle as of now.

Engine Specifications of Kushaq and Slavia-like Models

The new compact SUV could feature a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol TSI engine similar to those found in Skoda Kushaq and Slavia. This engine is capable of generating 115 horsepower and 178 Newton-meters of peak torque. For transmission, the engine is expected to be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Call for Suggestions: Name Skoda’s Upcoming Sub-Compact SUV

The company sought suggestions for the name of its upcoming sub-compact SUV. It posted on X, “What should we call our all-new compact SUV? You decide. #NameYourSkoda and suggest a name using the K to start and Q to end. Get a chance to win the new Skoda car or a trip to Prague. Keep in mind, the name should start with K and end with Q.”
