Skoda to Launch Cheapest Electric Car Soon: Teaser Released, Expected Range of 450km on Full Charge
Skoda Auto is set to unveil its annual press conference on Friday, March 15, during which it will announce the launch of its upcoming electric car. This vehicle will be the company’s smallest and most affordable car to date. Skoda plans to launch it in the global market first, followed by its introduction into the Indian market.
First Glimpse of the Car Revealed:
The company has released a teaser of the car. The teaser video provides a glimpse of the car’s hatchback-style. The latest car features sleek LED headlights and DRL units at the forefront.
Expected Price around 23 Lakhs:
According to the company, the price of the new electric car will be approximately 25,000 euros (roughly 23 lakhs rupees). It will compete in the global market with the Volkswagen ID.2 electric hatchback. This will be the company’s second electric car.
Skoda’s Strategy in the Indian EV Market:
Currently, Skoda’s only EV available in the global market is the Enyaq, which could be launched in India by the end of this year. The model launched in India will be completely built units.
Major EV Launch Plans in India:
Regarding the launch of cars in India, the company states that it is planning to enter the electric car segment in India shortly. Martin Jahn, a member of Skoda’s management board, stated, “We are considering all aspects to bring electric cars to India.”
Expectations for Range on Full Charge:
Skoda has not shared more information about the upcoming EV. According to media reports, the electric car will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB entry platform. The car will offer two battery pack options: 38kWh and 56kWh units. It is expected to have a range of up to 450 kilometers on a single charge.
Discounts of up to ₹2 Lakhs on Skoda Vehicles:
In March, in the last financial month of 2024, companies are offering discounts on vehicles to clear stock. Skoda is offering discounts of up to 2 lakh rupees on the Slavia and Kushaq models in India. This includes a cash discount of ₹1.55 lakh, a ₹20,000 exchange bonus, and a ₹25,000 corporate discount.
