Maruti Suzuki Launches New Model of Swift with Enhanced Mileage

Today (9th May), Maruti Suzuki has launched the fourth-generation model of its most popular car, Swift, in India. The company claims that the car will offer a mileage of 24.8 kmpl with the new Swift MT transmission and 25.7 kmpl with the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). With this, it becomes the hatchback car offering the highest mileage in India.

The company has priced its initial cost at ₹6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Booking for this premium hatchback segment car has started recently with a token money of ₹11,000. Furthermore, the new generation Swift will come with modern safety features such as 6 airbags, wireless charger, multi-information screen, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Maruti Suzuki Swift’s Fourth-Generation Model Raises ₹1450 Crores for Design and Development

Maruti Suzuki’s parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation, has recently unveiled the fourth-generation Swift at the Tokyo Auto Motor Show, with a whopping investment of ₹1450 crores towards its design and development. In India, it will compete against Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago.

New Generation Swift: Pricing and Features

The current model starts at ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), but with the inclusion of new features and design, the new Swift is expected to start at ₹6.3 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, it will compete against Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago.

Next Generation Swift: Exterior Design

When it comes to design, it retains elements from its older version but incorporates many new design elements up close. At the front, it features sharp-looking headlamps with projector setup, including inbuilt LED daytime running lamps. Between the two headlamps, there’s a dark chrome finish with a honeycomb pattern black grille. The company logo is now placed above the grille and below the bonnet.

There are several changes made to the front bumper, and the front fog lamps get a separate housing, offering a clearer view than before. Except for the side profile, where there are no changes except for the 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear taillights have been updated; now they are smaller and sportier. The tailgate receives hybrid badging.

The new Swift outgoing model is longer by 15mm, wider by 40mm, and taller by 30mm, but the wheelbase remains the same at 2,450mm. The company refers to it as the fourth-generation model, while the new Swift is based on the Heartect platform.

Next Generation Swift: Interior

Suzuki has also made changes to the car’s interior. Inspired by Ford Figo, Baleno, and Brezza, the new generation Swift features a completely new dashboard layout with a black and white dual-tone theme. It comes with a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, sleek AC vents, and new dashboard layout with tactile HVAC controls. Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car technology, steering-mounted controls, and automatic climate control.

New Z-Series Petrol Engine

The most significant change in the popular hatchback will be its powertrain. Instead of the current model’s K12 four-cylinder petrol engine, the new Z-Series will feature a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine. This engine generates 90hp of power and 113Nm of torque. Transmission details for the new Swift have not been announced yet, but it is expected to offer a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. Additionally, it may also come with CNG and hybrid engine options.

Next Generation Swift: Features

The new Swift will come with a host of advanced features including a 360-degree camera and dual sensor brake support, adaptive high beam assist, driver monitoring system, and collision mitigation braking system. In addition to these, ventilated seats, auto hold with electronic parking brake, and 6 airbags may also be available.
