Mahindra Thar Edition Launches at ₹15.40 Lakh: Features Desert Fury Satin Matte Color & 4-Wheel Drive Option
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited launched the Mahindra Thar’s Adventure Edition in the Indian market on February 27th. The company states that the off-roading SUV’s Adventure Edition is inspired by the Thar Desert. It comes with a 4-wheel-drive option and is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The Thar’s Special Edition top variant, LX Hard Top, is based on. The new Thar Special Desert Fury is launched in four variants with a Satin Metal color. Its price ranges between Rs. 15.40 lakh and Rs. 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
With the addition of the Special Edition, the price of the Mahindra Thar has increased to Rs. 11.25 lakh and Rs. 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). In India, it competes with Ford’s Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki’s Jimny.
Mahindra Thar Adventure Edition: Exterior Design
In terms of design, the Thar Adventure Edition looks similar to the regular model, but the company has made some cosmetic changes to it. It features sand dune-inspired stickers on the rear fenders and doors, matte black bezels, and 17-inch silver alloy wheels. Mahindra has introduced a new silver grille, ORVM, and removed the THAR badge on the alloy wheels.
Mahindra Thar Adventure Edition: Interior Design
Inside the SUV’s cabin, you’ll find dual-tone leatherette seat upholstery in beige color with contrast stitching. The Thar Adventure Edition comes with desert-fury color inserts around the AC vents, center console, door panels, and steering wheel. Its headrests feature a rugged style akin to a tracker.
Each unit of the Thar Adventure Edition will receive a unique VIN plate, starting with the number ‘1’. Customers can also opt for customized front and rear armrests, floor mats, and comfort kits as accessories.
Mahindra Thar Adventure Edition: Performance
The Thar Adventure Edition will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. It features a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which generates 130PS of power and 300Nm of torque. Additionally, a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine is available, producing 150PS of power and 320Nm of torque.
For transmission, both engines come with the option of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This car comes with a 4-wheel drive (4X4) option.
Mahindra Thar Adventure Edition: Features
The Thar Special Edition comes with the features of the LX variant, including a 7-inch touchscreen system, cruise control, keyless entry, and a height-adjustable driver seat. For passenger safety, the Thar Adventure Edition includes dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and rear parking sensors.
