BMW Motorrad Launches Flagship Adventure Motorcycle R 1300 GS in India

BMW Motorrad has launched its flagship adventure motorcycle, the R 1300 GS, in India. The company claims that this bike can achieve a top speed of 200 km/h. This luxury and premium two-wheeler manufacturer has introduced the bike in five variants based on kits and equipment.

The R 1300 GS is available in Light White, Triple Black 1, Triple Black 2, Trophy, and 719 variants. These variants differ in terms of equipment and electronics. For instance, the Triple Black 2 features dynamic suspension that automatically lowers the motorcycle when stationary. The top-spec 719 variant includes components like milled levers and an engine case.

This range caters to different preferences and requirements, ensuring that riders have options suited to their specific needs and tastes.

BMW R1300 GS: Price and Availability

The starting ex-showroom price of the BMW R1300 GS is set at ₹20.95 lakh, which is ₹40,000 more than the starting price of the current R 1250 GS bike. This motorcycle can be purchased as a Complete Built Unit (CBU).

Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of this month. In the Indian market, the GS competes with the Ducati Multistrada V4 lineup (₹21.48 lakh – ₹31.48 lakh), Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special (₹24.64 lakh), and Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro (₹19.19 lakh).

BMW R 1300 GS: Performance

The standout feature of the new BMW R 1300 GS is its engine. It boasts a 1300cc twin-cylinder engine with a compression ratio of 13.3:1, producing 145hp of power and 149Nm of torque.

The engine is paired with a new 6-speed gearbox, featuring a bi-directional quickshifter for smooth gearshifting. It continues to use shift-cam technology and operates at a higher compression ratio than the S1000RR.

According to BMW, the new R 1300 GS is 12kg lighter compared to the older R 1250 GS. With a 19-liter fuel tank, the bike weighs 237 kg, although it carries one liter less fuel.

BMW R 1300 GS: Features

In the global market, the R 1300 GS is available with alloy wheels and spoked rim wheels. However, the Indian version of the bike will feature cross-spoked tubeless wheels. All models in India come with standard features along with comfort and dynamic packages, including an electronic windscreen, bi-directional quickshifter, center stand, pro riding modes, and more.

Additionally, the touring package is standard on all variants except the base Light White. This package includes pannier mounts, chrome exhaust header pipes, adaptive headlights, knuckle-guard extenders, and a GPS device mount. The Triple Black variant is the only model in India available with the adaptive ride height feature.

The top-end 719 Tramonta variant is unique as it includes radar-assisted safety features like active cruise control and front collision warning, and comes with an option for a green/yellow paint scheme.
