Union Minister Kaushal Kishore has faced a personal tragedy in the past when he lost his son, Akash Kishore, to alcoholism in October 2020. This heartbreaking experience led the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs to launch a campaign aimed at preventing young individuals from falling into the grip of alcohol addiction.

During a program focused on de-addiction in the Lambhua assembly constituency last year, Minister Kaushal Kishore shared the emotional account of his son’s struggle with alcohol and the devastating consequences it had on his life. He appealed to the public to be mindful of this issue, urging them not to marry their daughters and sisters to individuals with alcohol addiction problems.

The Minister recounted, “My son, Akash Kishore, was ensnared by the habit of consuming alcohol with his friends. We took the step of admitting him to a de-addiction center, hoping that he would overcome this detrimental habit. Subsequently, he was married after six months, with the anticipation that this would lead him away from alcohol. Tragically, he resumed drinking after his marriage, and this ultimately resulted in his untimely demise. Two years ago, on October 19, Akash passed away, leaving behind a young son who was merely two years old.”

Addressing the gathering, Kaushal Kishore shared a poignant message, saying, “I was unable to save my son, and as a result, his wife became a widow. It is imperative that you take measures to protect your daughters and sisters from facing a similar fate.”
