World’s Largest Mercury Shiva Lingam: 2,351 kg Mercury Shiv Lingam in Surat Draws Crowds on First Shravan Monday

Starting today (August 5), the sacred month of Shravan has begun, bringing immense enthusiasm among Shiva devotees. Speaking of the world’s largest mercury Shiva lingam, it is located only in Surat, Gujarat. Made of 2,351 kilograms of mercury, this lingam attracts a large number of devotees during the month of Shravan who come to seek blessings and feel blessed.

The World’s Largest Mercury Shiva Lingam

There are countless temples of Shiva worldwide, each with its own unique significance. Talking about a temple in the Pal area of Surat city, it is extraordinary and unimaginable. This temple houses the world’s largest mercury Shiva lingam. The temple was established in 2004 by Batukgiri Maharaj of Atal Ashram. Today, this lingam has become a center of faith for the people. Thousands of devotees visit daily during the Shravan month.

Mercury: The Supreme Metal

Out of the eight types of metals, mercury is considered the best. Shiva devotee Ravana also mentioned the significance of mercury. It is said that just by seeing the mercury Shiva lingam, a person can achieve spiritual accomplishments. Due to the beginning of the Shravan month and it being the first Monday, Shiva devotees arrived early in the morning to witness the grand and vast mercury Shiva lingam.

Devotees Come from Abroad: Trustee

Ashram trustee Batukgiri Maharaj stated that the temple was established in 2004, housing a 2,351-kilogram mercury Shiva lingam. Because the lingam is made of mercury, the temple is named Pardeshwar Mahadev Temple. The Shiva lingam was crafted from 1,751 kilograms of mercury, and the base area also uses mercury, making the lingam weigh 2,351 kilograms. Devotees from across the country and abroad come here to seek blessings.

Shiva devotee Yash Desai said, “I consider myself fortunate because the world’s largest mercury Shiva lingam is in Surat. I feel blessed to have witnessed it on the first day of the Shravan month. I have prayed here for the welfare of my family.
