A local woman in Vadodara jumped into a 20-foot deep well, protesting against land acquisition from the police officer who came to serve her eviction notice. At that moment, without a second thought, a nearby police constable also jumped into the well behind her. The policewoman managed to rescue the woman. This entire incident was captured on mobile cameras.
Woman Protested Against Land Acquisition
On March 14, in Vadodara city’s Koyali area, the IOCL company was carrying out land acquisition work. During this process, local residents opposed the acquisition, leading to the gathering of police reinforcements. At this point, a woman got extremely agitated and jumped into a well that was more than 20 feet deep. Seeing this, a police constable also jumped into the well to rescue her. After a severe struggle, the woman was rescued from the well. During this time, Constable Kalpanaben Lakhhabhai and Soniyaben Pradipbhai, along with PSI Chavda, helped in the rescue operation.
Company Sought Police Protection: ACP
ACP R.D. Kawa mentioned that the IOCL company had sought police protection for land acquisition, leading to the deployment of one PSI and ten policemen from Javaharnagar police station. This operation faced opposition from local people, resulting in a heated situation. In the chaos, Dipika jumped into the well in protest.
