Vadodara Cleanliness Critique: CM Says It Shouldn’t Depend on VIP Visits; Officials Laugh Instead of Feeling Ashamed
Today, the Chief Minister inaugurated the ‘MP Atal Jan Sewa Kendra’ at the Vadodara Collectorate. During the event, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the importance of cleanliness, stating from the stage, along with officials, that Vadodara is a cultured city, and we need to bring cleanliness into our nature and culture. He remarked that cleanliness should not only be prioritized when the Prime Minister or Chief Minister visits.
The atmosphere during the event showed that the officials present seemed to take the Chief Minister’s critique in stride, laughing in response to his comments. It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister had previously made serious remarks about the lack of development in Vadodara.
Bhupendra Patel had already publicly stated that Vadodara is lagging behind in development compared to other cities in the state. While addressing the attendees at the inauguration of the Jan Sewa Kendra, the Chief Minister commented on the roads and cleanliness in Vadodara, saying, “It appears clean because the CM and PM are coming.” He humorously reprimanded the municipal authorities, suggesting that the city’s cleanliness should not be contingent upon the visits of high-ranking officials.
Bhupendra Patel’s Strong Message to Officials
Bhupendra Patel expressed his strong stance by stating that Vadodara is a cultured city that must uphold its values. He emphasized that cleanliness should become a natural behavior. While addressing the municipal officials from the stage, he delivered a powerful reprimand that left the attending officials in a state of discomfort, almost as if they were left without blood.
Instead of showing embarrassment, the officials were seen clapping and laughing, creating an atmosphere where it seemed they had taken the Chief Minister’s critique in stride.
Single Window Facility for Easy Access to Government Schemes
He congratulated MP Hemang Joshi for initiating a single window facility aimed at making the benefits of all government schemes easily accessible to the citizens of the Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency. This Jan Sewa Kendra is expected to serve as a crucial link between the government and beneficiaries, addressing the issues and challenges faced by the people of the city and district. It will facilitate efforts to resolve these concerns promptly and satisfactorily with the support of the respective government departments.
IT and Digital Facilities at the Centre
This centre houses the MP’s office and a scheme benefits centre. It will facilitate extensive services, including providing application forms for over 50 related schemes under 13 major government initiatives displayed on a large board. The facility will offer guidance for filling out applications and assisting beneficiaries with the necessary documentation and evidence. A special counter from SBI has been established for this purpose.
In summary, the office will operate under the MP’s guidance with a single-window system, equipped with IT and digital facilities along with a dedicated team. This will serve as a round-the-clock public service centre.
