Trump Selects as Presidential Candidate: Attends Party Convention Center & Announces JD Vance for Vice President Position

The Republican Party has officially declared Donald Trump as their presidential candidate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During the party’s convention on Monday night (Indian Standard Time), Trump received 2387 delegate votes. A minimum of 1215 votes is required to be selected as a candidate.

This was Trump’s first public appearance since the attack in Pennsylvania on July 13. He arrived at the convention hall with a bandage on his ear, having been grazed by a bullet during the attack. The party selected him as the presidential candidate 48 hours after the incident.

As soon as Trump arrived at the convention, supporters chanted “USA-USA.” People were also seen raising their fists in the air like Trump and chanting “Fight-Fight.” Trump’s two sons, Eric and Donald Jr., were present at the convention. After the convention concluded and Trump began to leave, the crowd chanted “We love Trump.”

David Vance Nominated for Vice President

The Republican Party has announced 39-year-old James David Vance as their vice presidential candidate. There was no opposition to Vance’s nomination at the convention. Vance was first elected as a senator from Ohio in 2022 and is considered to be close to Trump.

However, before becoming a Trump supporter, Vance was a staunch critic of Trump until 2021. In a 2016 interview, Vance deemed Trump worthy of criticism, questioning his character and leadership style. Later, in 2021, he apologized to Trump for his earlier remarks and expressed his desire to run for office as a Republican, subsequently becoming close to Trump.

After the Republican Party selected James David Vance for the vice-presidential position, President Joe Biden commented, “James is a clone of Trump. They share the same views on all issues. It doesn’t make a difference to me.” Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris stated that she is ready to debate with Vance.

Trump called David Vance the most qualified candidate for the post of Vice President.

Vance Was Part of the ‘Never Trump’ Campaign in the 2016 Presidential Election

During the 2016 presidential election, some representatives of the Republican Party opposed Trump’s candidacy. This group raised the slogan ‘Never Trump,’ believing that Trump’s statements and behavior were causing division among people, making him unfit to be president.

Vance was also a supporter of this campaign. In October 2016, just weeks before Trump was elected president, he told a news channel, “I can’t tolerate Trump. I am with the ‘Never Trump’ campaign. I never liked Trump.”

However, with changes in the political landscape, Vance’s stance on Trump changed as well. By the time Vance ran for the Senate in 2022, he had aligned himself with Trump, who also endorsed him.

After being elected unopposed, he thanked the delegates along with his wife Usha.

Donald Trump posted about JD Vance on his social media platform, Truth Social. He said that after much deliberation and considering many talented individuals, he has decided that the most suitable person for the Vice President of the United States is Ohio State Senator JD Vance.

JD served in the Marine Corps. He graduated from Ohio State University and Yale Law School, where he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal and president of the Yale Law Veterans Association. Trump further wrote that JD’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” which tells the story of the hardworking men and women of our country, has been a bestseller and was even made into a film.

JD has built a very successful business career in technology and finance. During the campaign, he will focus heavily on the farmers and workers of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and other states, for whom he has fought so bravely.

“If I Hadn’t Dodged, I Would Have Died”

Trump discussed his near-death experience on Sunday in a post, recounting a harrowing incident where he narrowly escaped an attack. He stated, “If I hadn’t dodged, I would have died. It was a terrifying experience that nearly ended my life. I didn’t even think I would survive, especially after a bullet grazed my ear.”
