Tragic Incident During Police Recruitment in Surat: Aspirant Dies of Heart Attack
A heartbreaking incident occurred this morning at Vav, Surat district, during the physical fitness test for police recruitment. A 36-year-old candidate tragically lost his life due to a heart attack while participating in the 5-kilometer run.
Collapsed During the 12th Round
Sanjaykumar Rasikbhai Gamit, a 36-year-old constable from SRP Group-10 in Valia, was running as part of the PSI recruitment exam. During the first batch at 4:45 AM, he collapsed unconscious in the 12th round of the 5km run.
CPR Administered but Unsuccessful
Dr. Chirag Kataria, on duty, immediately provided CPR, oxygen, and primary medication. Despite efforts, his condition worsened, and he was rushed to Dinbandhu Hospital, Kholvad, at 5:05 AM. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead at 5:30 AM.
Native of Chikhalvav, Vyara
Sanjaykumar hailed from Chikhalvav village in Vyara, Tapi district. His family has been informed of the tragic loss, and the body was sent to CHC Hospital, Kamrej, for further formalities. This incident has left the police department in mourning.
Massive Recruitment Process Underway
The police recruitment process is being conducted under strict supervision at SRP Ground, Vav. A total of 16 lakh candidates applied for 12,472 police department vacancies, with 10,73,786 confirmed for the physical efficiency and standard tests. The recruitment board has set up a central control room in Gandhinagar to monitor the proceedings at 15 designated examination centers.
