School Bus Catches Fire in Thailand, VIDEO: 25 Students Burned Alive, 44 on Board Including 5 Teachers; Accident Caused by Tire Burst

A fire in a school bus in Thailand has resulted in the deaths of 25 students. According to news agency AFP, there were a total of 44 children on the bus, 16 of whom have been hospitalized. Rescue workers are currently attempting to save the remaining children. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

According to the BBC, the school bus was returning from a trip at the time of the accident.

Eyewitnesses Report Tire Burst as Cause of Bus Fire in Thailand

However, eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the fire was caused by a tire bursting. According to Reuters, the incident occurred around 12:30 PM in the Khukhot area of Bangkok while the bus was returning from school. There were also 5 teachers present on the bus.

A total of 44 people were traveling in the school bus, including 39 students and 5 teachers.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Expresses Condolences to Families of Victims

Thailand’s Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha, has expressed condolences to the families of the children who lost their lives in the accident. 

The country’s Interior Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, stated that even after the rescue workers arrived, the bus remained so hot that it was extremely difficult to enter, which resulted in the bodies remaining inside the bus for an extended period. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.
