Surat Sees 11 Suicides in 36 Hours: Financial Strain and Illness Lead to Tragedies

Surat is witnessing a continuous rise in suicide cases. In the last 36 hours alone, 11 people have taken the final step. Among these 11 individuals, three were due to financial distress and two due to illness. It has been found that some committed suicide for unknown reasons.

Bride Hangs Herself in Amroli Three Months After Marriage

Narayan Pradhan, originally from Odisha, currently resides with his family at Shriram Nagar Society, Gujarat Housing Board, Amroli. Narayan works in a private company. Three months ago, he married a young woman named Khileshwari (aged 25). On Wednesday around 4 PM, Khileshwari spoke to her mother over the phone. Later, at around 5 PM, she hanged herself with a dupatta tied to an iron hook in their home. Following this incident, Amroli police registered an accidental death and initiated further investigation.

Young Man Ends Life by Drinking Acid in Rudarpura

Mehul Mahendra Sindhe (aged 30), originally from Maharashtra, lived with his parents in Garden Colony, Rudarpura. Mehul was unemployed and used to consume alcohol. On Wednesday afternoon, Mehul came home drunk and asked his mother for money. When she refused, Mehul, in a state of intoxication, drank acid to commit suicide. He was taken to New Civil Hospital by a 108 ambulance, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Young Man Commits Suicide by Drinking Poison Due to Financial Distress in Ved Road

Sujit Bihari Mahanto (aged 22), originally from Bihar, lived in Anand Park Society, Ved Road. Sujit worked as a jeweler to support his family. For the past three months, his work had not been going well, causing financial distress. On Tuesday evening around 4 PM, he drank poison at home to commit suicide. Following this incident, Chowk Bazaar police registered an accidental death and initiated further investigation.

Middle-Aged Man Drinks Poison Due to Mental Illness in Mota Varachha

Sureshbhai Vallabhbhai Tejani (aged 52), originally from Bhavnagar, lived with his family in Sun City Row House, Mota Varachha. Sureshbhai, who was retired, had been suffering from mental illness for the past ten years. Frustrated, he drank poison at home on Tuesday around 3:45 PM in an attempt to commit suicide. He was taken to a private hospital for treatment, where he died during treatment. Following this incident, Utran police registered an accidental death and initiated further investigation.

Elderly Man Hangs Himself Due to Illness in Limbayat

Shivaji Omkar Patil (aged 71), originally from Maharashtra, lived with his family, including one child, in Keshavnagar, Limbayat. Shivaji worked as a security guard to support his family. He suffered from various illnesses. Frustrated, on Wednesday evening around 6:50 PM, he hanged himself with a rope tied to an iron hook in their home. Following this incident, Limbayat police registered an accidental death and initiated further investigation.

Young Man Commits Suicide in Bhestan After Calling Cousin

Rahul Gyanprasad Chauhan (aged 25), originally from Uttar Pradesh, lived with his family, including a one-month-old son, in Shankheshwar Society, Bhestan Station Road. Rahul worked in the cloth market to support his family. On Sunday morning, Rahul called his cousin Vijay and said, “Take care of my house, I am not going to stay anymore, I am not feeling well.” After cutting the call, he attempted suicide by drinking poison. He was taken to the hospital in a semi-conscious state, where he died during treatment on Wednesday night. Following this incident, Bhestan police registered an accidental death and initiated further investigation.
