Another Fake Factory Busted in Surat’s Sarathana Area

A fake factory has been busted once again in Surat. Located just a short distance from the Sarathana Police Station, this factory was producing counterfeit branded items like Dettol and Harpic. Acting on information received from the company, a raid was conducted in collaboration with the police, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of raw materials and counterfeit products.

Fake Factory Uncovered in Sarathana

Surat city and its surrounding areas have seen a series of raids uncovering factories producing counterfeit goods. In the latest incident, another factory manufacturing fake products was discovered in the Sarathana area. The raid, carried out based on a tip-off provided by the company, revealed a significant amount of raw materials used for making counterfeit items.

Factory Operating Near Police Station Without Approval

A factory operating without approval from the Food and Drug Regulation Authority was discovered just a short distance from the Sarathana Police Station. The factory was producing counterfeit Dettol and Harpic products. After conducting an investigation, the companies involved informed the police, leading to a raid that resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of fake Dettol liquid and other items. The factory, located close to the Sarathana Police Station, was found to be functioning without proper authorization. The case is currently under further investigation.

Fake Dettol and Harpic Products Sold Under Well-Known Names

According to reports, about a week ago, Reckitt Benckiser (India) received verbal information that someone in the Matrushree Compound on Canal Road in the Sarathana area of Surat was manufacturing and selling liquid products under the brand names Harpic, Dettol, and Lysol through an entity called Mahadev Creation. The company’s officials promptly informed Sarathana Police Inspector M.B. Zala, after which a team, including three company officials, was sent to the factory for investigation.

Stickers with Company Logos Found Alongside Liquid Stock

In the Matrushree Compound on Sarathana Canal Road, a warehouse with three units under the name Mahadev Creation was discovered to be producing liquid products. The 34-year-old owner, Prakashbhai Mohanbhai Molya, was found at the factory during the raid. Upon searching the warehouse, police discovered several cans of Harpic, Lysol, and Dettol liquids, both full and empty, along with stickers bearing the logos of these brands.

Police Seize Goods Worth ₹4.39 Lakh

From the factory, authorities seized 165 five-liter cans of Harpic worth ₹1.65 lakh, 100 five-liter cans of Lysol valued at ₹90,000, and 154 five-liter cans of Dettol liquid worth ₹84,800. Additionally, 250 empty five-liter Harpic cans, 105 empty one-liter Harpic cans, 130 empty five-liter Lysol cans, and 125 empty five-liter Dettol cans were found, along with branded stickers. In total, goods worth ₹4.39 lakh were confiscated during the raid.

Accused Detained for Interrogation

The company’s official has filed a complaint against the owner of the fake factory, Prakashbhai Mohanbhai Molya, at the Sarathana Police Station under various sections, including the Copyright Act. The Sarathana Police have detained the accused and are currently conducting further interrogation to gather more information about the operation.
