Class 8 Student in Surat Dies by Suicide: Family Alleges School Made Her Stand Near Toilet for Two Days Over Unpaid Fees
A tragic incident has surfaced in Surat’s Godadara area, where a Class 8 student ended her life by hanging herself at home, sparking widespread concern. The student, who attended Adarsh Public School in the same area, was reportedly not allowed to appear for her internal exams due to pending fees. The school teacher allegedly made her stand outside the classroom all day, a claim made by the student’s family.
According to the family, the punishment left the student deeply distressed, and she refused to attend school thereafter. While her parents were away at work, she took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging herself at home.
In light of the family’s serious allegations against the school administration, the education department and local police have initiated a detailed investigation into the matter.
Father of Deceased Student Levels Serious Allegations Against the School
Raju Khatik, the father of the deceased student, alleged, “Before Uttarayan, my daughter had exams, but the school did not allow her to appear. Instead, they made her stand outside the classroom. When she came home, she was in tears. When I called the school, they told me that her fees were pending. I assured them that I would pay the fees next month. After that incident, my daughter refused to go to school and later took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging herself.”
He further added, “The school administration tortures students. Some parents may have genuine financial difficulties or delays. This kind of treatment is unacceptable.”
Allegation of Forcing the Student to Stand Near the Toilet
According to reports, the family, originally from Rajasthan, resides in Priyanka Nagar Society in Surat’s Godadara area. Raju Khatik, the father, supports his family, including his wife, two daughters, and a son, by driving a rickshaw. His eldest daughter, Bhavna, a Class 8 student, was studying at Adarsh Public School in Godadara.
After the Uttarayan holiday, Bhavna reportedly faced humiliation at school for unpaid fees. It is alleged that she was made to stand near the toilet as a punishment.
