Order to Close All Abattoirs in Surat Municipal Area Every Monday During Shravan Month

In the upcoming days, as the holy month of Shravan approaches for Hindus, the Surat Municipal Corporation, considering the sentiments of the people, has announced that, as in previous years, all abattoirs managed by the Surat Municipal Corporation will remain closed every Monday throughout the month of Shravan.

Abattoir Closures for Shravan Month and Janmashtami

The Standing Committee of Surat Municipal Corporation has resolved to close all municipal abattoirs every Monday during the month of Shravan since 2014. 

Based on this resolution, all Surat Municipal Corporation-managed abattoirs will remain closed on the following Mondays during the Shravan month this year: August 5, August 12, August 19, August 26, and September 2. 

Additionally, a public notice has been issued announcing the closure of the abattoirs on August 26, which is also Janmashtami.

Enforcement of Compliance with Abattoir Closure

The Surat Municipal Corporation has also announced that any violations of the closure directive issued by the Corporation will be dealt with under the BPMC Act and the Bombay Police Act.
