Supreme Court’s YouTube Channel Hacked: Crypto Ads Replace Case Hearing Live Stream

A video showcasing the announcement of the cryptocurrency XRP was being displayed. XRP is a cryptocurrency developed by the US-based company Ripple Labs. The Supreme Court uses a YouTube channel to live stream the hearings of cases listed before the constitutional bench and public interest matters.

Recently, the hearing of a rape and murder case involving a female trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was live-streamed on the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel.

The hearing videos uploaded on the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel were made private by hackers, and a video titled ‘Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds to the SEC’s $2 Billion Fine! XRP Price Prediction’ is currently live on the hacked channel. A senior Supreme Court official stated, “We are not exactly sure what has happened, but it appears the website has been tampered with.” They mentioned that the issue came to light on Friday morning on the Supreme Court’s official YouTube channel, and the IT team of the Supreme Court has sought help from NIC (National Informatics Centre) to resolve it.
