Smriti Challenges Rahul: Debate on UPA vs. Modi Government; Congress MPs Won’t Face BJP Workers
Union Minister Smriti Irani has challenged Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to debate on the tenure of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) and Narendra Modi government. Speaking at the Namo Yuva Mahasammelan in Nagpur, Maharashtra on Monday (March 4), Smriti stated, “There should be a discussion on the differences between the UPA under Congress and Modi’s governance in the last 10 years.”
Smriti Irani’s Assertion on Rahul Gandhi and BJP’s Manifesto Fulfillment
Smriti Irani stated, “If I were to challenge Rahul Gandhi to debate on this matter, he wouldn’t come. He wouldn’t even stand his ground in front of an ordinary BJP worker. I guarantee that if even a BJP Youth Wing worker begins speaking in front of Rahul Gandhi, his ability to speak will diminish.” She continued, “BJP has fulfilled the three major promises made to the public in the party manifesto over the last 10 years.
This includes the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, bringing women’s reservation in Parliament, and the construction of the Ram Temple.” Addressing the party workers, the Union Minister said, “Modi has fulfilled every guarantee. Now it’s time for you to ensure a guarantee of ‘This time, crossing 400 seats’.”
Smriti’s Response: “140 Crore People are Modi’s Family”
Commenting on the statement made by former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav regarding “families,” Smriti responded, “PM Modi has worked for India as a chief servant. The charlatans of the INDI coalition claimed that he (PM Modi) has no family. I want to tell them that we all are Modi’s family. These youth are Modi’s family. The 140 crore people of India are his family. Nobody can deceive him.”
Lalu’s Remark: “Why Doesn’t the PM Have Children?”
During a rally of the Mahagathbandhan in Patna on March 3rd, Lalu Yadav questioned, “PM Modi nowadays attacks on dynasty politics. I ask, why haven’t you had any children?” The RJD supremo further stated that he himself doesn’t have a family. He’s not a Hindu. Hindus grow beards during their mother’s funeral rituals. When PM’s mother passed away, why didn’t he grow a beard?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded first to the statement made by RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family during his visit to Telangana on Monday (March 4th). He said, “Whenever I talk about dynastic politics, opposition members say Modi doesn’t even have a family. I left home in childhood for the country, and I will dedicate my life to the nation.”
Shortly after the PM’s speech, BJP leaders started adding ‘Modi ka Parivar’ (Modi’s family) to their X profiles. Senior leaders like Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Smriti Irani, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Kiran Rijiju changed their profile names.
