Exclusive Update: Sisodia’s Jail Letter, AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s Press Conference – Major Revelations Expected!

Sanjay Singh, a leader and Member of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who was recently released from Tihar Jail, will hold a press conference today at 10 AM. The party has announced on its social media platform X that in this conference, they will make significant revelations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central government.

On the other hand, in the Delhi liquor policy case, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was imprisoned in Tihar, has reportedly written letters to people in his constituency. According to media reports, he has written, “We will meet outside shortly. Long live the education revolution, love you all.”

Letter 1

Three Key Issues Highlighted in Sisodia’s Letter

I am pleased to witness the educational revolution under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi. I have been here for the past year, and during this time, I have cherished every moment. We have all worked diligently for the people of Delhi.

Letter 2

Just as during British rule, there was a long struggle against tyranny. Similarly, we are now fighting for education and schools. Before independence, the British government took great pride in their administration. However, British rulers also falsely accused people and threw them into jail. They imprisoned Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela for many years. They are my inspiration.

Letter 3

The people of Delhi are my strength. Good education and schools are essential for the development of the country. Every child will receive proper and quality education every day. Reading about the educational revolution in Punjab, I feel relieved. Since I have been in jail, my love for you all has only grown. People have also taken great care of my wife. Speaking about you brings tears to her eyes.

Sanjay Singh Asserts Fearlessness Post-Release from Jail

Following his release from jail in the liquor policy case, Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh stated, “We fear no one.”

After being released from jail, Sanjay Singh said that we are not afraid of anyone

After being arrested in connection with the liquor policy case, Singh was released on bail on the night of April 3rd at 8:15 PM. Upon his release, he addressed party workers, stating, “It’s not time for relaxation; it’s time for struggle.” Senior leaders of our party, including Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendra Jain, and Manish Sisodia, have also been behind bars. I believe that the jail bars will break, and we will emerge victorious.

November 2021: Introduction of New Liquor Policy

On March 22, 2021, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, announced the new liquor policy. He stated that with this policy, liquor shops would be in the hands of local people. When asked about the reason behind implementing the new policy, he provided two arguments. Firstly, it would put an end to mafia control. Secondly, there would be an increase in revenue in the government treasury.

On November 17, 2021, the new liquor policy for 2021-22 was implemented. As a result, the government withdrew from the liquor business, and it went into the hands of local entrepreneurs. Due to significant discounts, there was a surge in the sale of liquor. This led to an increase in government revenue, but the new policy faced opposition.

July 2022: Allegations of Corruption in Liquor Policy

On July 8, 2022, Delhi’s Chief Secretary, Naresh Kumar, alleged that there had been corruption in the new liquor policy. He handed over the related report to Lieutenant Governor Vikas Saksena. It was stated that Sisodia had favored liquor traders holding licenses. On the other hand, the Lieutenant Governor also mentioned that changes were made in the liquor policy without his and the Cabinet’s approval.

August 2022: CBI and ED Register Cases

Following the report from the Chief Secretary, LG Saksena had demanded a CBI investigation. The investigative agency registered the case on August 17, 2022. It implicated Manish Sisodia, three retired government officials, nine industrialists, and two companies on various corruption charges.

On August 19, raids were conducted at 31 locations across seven states, including Sisodia’s residence and office. Sisodia claimed that nothing incriminating was found by the CBI. Additionally, on August 22, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case of money laundering based on information obtained from the CBI.

July 2022: Government Cancels New Policy

Amid escalating controversies, on July 28, 2022, the Delhi government revoked the new liquor policy. A decision was made to revert to the old policy.

On July 31, it was announced in a cabinet note that due to increased liquor sales, the government’s revenue had decreased as discounts and bulk trading were causing a reduction in revenue from the liquor business.

February 26, 2023: CBI Arrests Sisodia

February 26, 2023: CBI Arrests Sisodia

Sisodia, who was in charge of the Excise Department, was allegedly implicated as the main accused in this scam. After extensive questioning, the investigative agency arrested him on February 26. He is currently in custody.

The CBI accused Sisodia of making arbitrary and biased decisions, which resulted in significant losses to the government’s treasury and benefited liquor traders.

October 4, 2023: Sanjay Singh Arrested by ED

Sanjay Singh’s name appeared in the ED’s charge sheet regarding an alleged liquor scam. This charge sheet was filed in 2022. According to reports, after testimonies from witnesses, including Dinesh Arora, Sanjay Singh was arrested.

Dinesh Arora is a prominent restaurateur in Delhi and a member of the National Restaurant Association of India. It is alleged that Dinesh Arora told the ED that Sanjay Singh had given him 82 lakh rupees, which was used in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections.

March 21, 2024: Arvind Kejriwal Arrested by ED

On March 21, 2024, Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, was reportedly arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an alleged liquor scam in Delhi. Kejriwal was released on bail after being presented with nine summonses by the ED. He did not appear before the ED even once. Both the ED and Kejriwal appeared before the court, following which Kejriwal was arrested.

Earlier, on March 17, Kejriwal was issued nine summonses by the ED. He appeared before the High Court on March 19, where his plea was heard. The court directed the ED to issue summonses instead of repeatedly issuing arrest warrants.

During the court proceedings, Kejriwal requested assurance that he would not be arrested if he appeared before the ED for questioning. The court clarified that Kejriwal must appear before the ED, and there was no stay on his arrest. Following the court’s decision, the ED visited Kejriwal’s residence in the evening, and after questioning him for about two hours, he was arrested.
