Two Salesmen Robbed in Ahmedabad After Car Puncture: ₹2.5L, 2.5 kg Gold & 5 kg Silver Stolen
Late at night near Pajod village on Junagadh-Porbandar highway, two salesmen from Ahmedabad were robbed of gold, silver, and cash by three robbers who fled the scene. The salesmen were threatened with a knife and beaten before the robbers took off with 2.5 kg of gold, 5 kg of silver, and ₹2.5 lakh in cash. Upon being informed, the police, including the SP, SOG, Crime Branch, and local forces, arrived at the scene and set up roadblocks.
Flat Tire Leads to Robbery
According to information, the salesmen, Dharmendra Joshi and Dhanraj Bhangde, from the Kala Gold Factory in Manekchowk, Ahmedabad, were heading towards Somnath in their four-wheeler when their car got a flat tire on the Bantwa-Kutiyana road. As they stood by their vehicle, a man on a bike arrived, used abusive language, and attacked them. Shortly after, two more men appeared, brandishing knives, and robbed them of 2.5 kg of gold, 5 kg of silver, ₹2.5 lakh in cash, and their mobile phones—totaling around ₹1 crore 15 lakh.
Mobile Phones Recovered from Babul Trees
Upon being informed of the incident, Junagadh SP Harshad Mehta and a team from the local crime branch and SOG launched a thorough investigation. Police set up roadblocks to catch the culprits. During the investigation, mobile phones were found in the babul tree thickets. The police are currently investigating the direction in which the robbers fled.
Police Begin Investigation
In an interview with DSP BC Thakkar, he stated that the two salesmen from Ahmedabad were traveling from Kutiyana to Somnath when they were robbed on Pajod Bantwa Road. Yajnik Joshi, who works with the gold merchants in Ahmedabad, confirmed the details, stating that the robbers attacked the salesmen and fled with 2.5 kg of gold, 5 kg of silver, and ₹2.5 lakh in cash. The Bantwa police have registered a case against three unidentified individuals and started their investigation.
CCTV Footage Before the Robbery Emerges
CCTV footage prior to the robbery has surfaced, showing the two salesmen delivering goods at a jeweler’s shop in Manavdar at around 4:30 PM. After making the delivery, they were heading back to Kutiyana when the robbery occurred.
Another Robbery on Palanpur-Ahmedabad Highway
In another incident on the Palanpur-Ahmedabad highway near Chhapi, employees of an Angadia service were robbed of a bag full of jewelry by unknown assailants. The employee was traveling by bus from Rajasthan when, near Bharkawada Hotel, the assailants snatched the bag containing gold and silver jewelry and fled. The SP, SOG, LCB, and Chhapi police arrived at the scene to investigate. Two robbers fleeing the bus with the stolen bag were also captured on CCTV.
