Just two days ago, train number 12935, a double-decker traveling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, experienced a shocking incident when its compartments separated near Surat. In a similar unfortunate event, at around 2:30 AM on Friday, August 16, train number 19168 Sabarmati Express derailed, causing 22 compartments to go off track.
Fortunately, no major casualties were reported, and authorities breathed a sigh of relief. This train was en route from Varanasi to Ahmedabad. The incident has raised numerous concerns, prompting Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to provide an important update on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The Sabarmati Express, traveling from Varanasi to Ahmedabad, derailed near Bhimsen Station in Kanpur, causing 22 compartments to go off track. Thankfully, there were no major casualties, preventing a potential disaster.
The incident raised questions about the railway’s safety measures. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw addressed the concerns by sharing an update on X (formerly Twitter).
In his post, Vaishnaw revealed that the Sabarmati Express engine derailed after colliding with an object placed on the track near Kanpur. He also mentioned that signs of sabotage were found at the site.
The evidence has been secured, and both the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Uttar Pradesh Police are investigating the matter. This has led to growing speculation about whether the derailment was an accident or part of a larger conspiracy.
High-Level Inquiry Ordered Into Sabarmati Express Derailment: Assistant Commercial Manager
According to the driver, the initial observation indicated that the engine collided with a boulder, causing significant damage to the engine’s cowcatcher and leading to the derailment. Assistant Commercial Manager Santosh Kumar Tripathi stated, “A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The DRM of Prayagraj Division has also reached the site.” The railway administration has arranged alternative transportation for passengers, and they are being transported to Kanpur by bus for their convenience.
Multiple Train Services Disrupted Due to Sabarmati Express Derailment
Reports from police and railway officials present at the accident site indicate that train operations have been significantly affected. Several trains are expected to face delays, particularly those traveling through the Uttar Pradesh route.
In response to the derailment, many train routes have been diverted, causing widespread disruptions across the network.
