Panchal had previously committed a drink-and-drive offense in this vehicle two months ago. Despite knocking on the door, no one answered. Later, Ripal’s wife, Kanan Panchal, was contacted for further information.
Ripal Suffers from Major Depression: Kanan Panchal
Ripal’s wife, Kanan Panchal, told Divya Bhaskar that her husband is undergoing treatment for mental health issues, supported by medical reports. He was hospitalized for 20 days recently. She attributed Monday’s incident to the effects of his medication. She also mentioned a similar episode a few months ago, explaining that high doses of prescribed medication might be influencing his behavior.
Behavioral Changes Due to Medication: Kanan Panchal
Kanan elaborated that Ripal behaves normally under usual circumstances, but his behavior changes under the influence of medication and other factors. Doctors have advised that his major depression and the recent increase in medication dosage could lead to such incidents. She acknowledged minor marital disputes but emphasized her hope for his speedy recovery. She also expressed regret over the recent incident, deeming it unacceptable.

The Audi car (registration number GJ18 BQ 6780), involved in the Monday accident near Ambli, was issued e-memos for traffic violations on April 27, 2024, and October 26, 2024. These violations included overspeeding and jumping a traffic signal.
Ripal Panchal Granted Bail
Following his arrest on Monday for reckless driving under the influence, Ripal Panchal was presented in Ahmedabad Rural Court. The court granted him bail on a ₹15,000 bond.
