Rijiju Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Remarks on Miss India Diversity

Kiren Rijiju Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over Miss India Remarks

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s comments regarding the lack of Dalit and Adivasi women in the Miss India competition.

On Sunday, Rijiju remarked that Rahul Gandhi wants reservations even in Miss India, suggesting that this isn’t just a case of childish thinking. He added that those who praise Gandhi are equally responsible.

Rahul Gandhi had stated on August 24 in Prayagraj that he checked the list of Miss India contestants and found no representation from Dalit, Adivasi, or OBC communities.

Rijiju’s Response: The Government Does Not Select Miss India

Responding to Gandhi’s statement, Rijiju said that childish thoughts might be entertaining, but Rahul Gandhi should refrain from mocking our marginalized communities with his divisive remarks.

He emphasized that the government does not select Miss India contestants, nor does it choose athletes for the Olympics or film actors.

Rijiju also mentioned that Prime Minister Modi has made it clear that the central government will not allow any changes to reservations in top services like IAS, IPS, and IFS, even if directed by the Supreme Court.

Highlighting Marginalized Representation in Government

Rijiju pointed out that President Droupadi Murmu is the first tribal President of India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes from an OBC background. He also noted the record number of Cabinet ministers from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, questioning why Gandhi fails to see this representation.

Rahul Gandhi Raises the Issue of Caste Census

During a program titled ‘Respect and Protect the Constitution’ in Prayagraj on August 24, Rahul Gandhi called for a caste-based census. He argued that a caste census is essential to strengthening the Constitution and asked for support in protecting it.

Gandhi also highlighted the lack of Dalit and Adivasi representation across various sectors, including industry, media, and banking, emphasizing that 90% of major industrialists do not come from these communities.

Gandhi’s Vision vs. Modi’s Approach

In his 40-minute speech, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Modi prefers a monarch-like model of governance, while he, Gandhi, is committed to upholding the Constitution. He also acknowledged that the BJP has taught him valuable lessons about what to do and what not to do in politics.

Gandhi shared the story of Ramchait, a cobbler from Sultanpur, who has been working in his trade for 40 years without receiving any recognition, highlighting the need for respect and dignity for skilled laborers across India.
