Discover How to Report Aadhaar Card Misuse Easily from Home: An Effortless Solution to Address Misuse Cases

The Aadhaar card is an essential document required for various government schemes, including enrollment in schools for children. It contains vital information such as your name, address, and phone number, along with biometric data like fingerprints.

In situations where Aadhaar falls into the wrong hands, it can lead to serious consequences. In such cases, if you fear misuse of your Aadhaar, you can easily check its usage online from the comfort of your home.

The official website of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows you to verify when and where your Aadhaar number has been used, and this service is provided free of charge.

Verifying Aadhaar Usage Online

Reporting Aadhaar Misuse

If upon reviewing the records, you suspect misuse of your Aadhaar card, you can lodge a complaint immediately. You can do so by calling the toll-free number 1947 or emailing at help@uidai.gov.in

Additionally, you have the option to file a complaint online at uidai.gov.in/file-complaint. Take prompt action to report any instances of Aadhaar misuse for appropriate resolution.

Handling Aadhaar Post Demise

After a person’s demise, there’s no provision to cancel their Aadhaar card. In such cases, it’s the responsibility of the deceased person’s family to ensure the Aadhaar card is securely kept to prevent its misuse.

If the deceased individual was availing any benefits or subsidies through Aadhaar, the concerned department should be informed about the death. Their name will then be removed from the scheme.

What to do: The Aadhaar app or UIDAI website allows locking the Aadhaar of deceased individuals. This helps prevent misuse of the deceased person’s Aadhaar number, providing assistance in thwarting identity theft.
