Online Gambling Tragedy: Rajkot Youth Ends Life Over Gaming Losses
The increasing menace of online gambling has claimed yet another life in Rajkot, Gujarat. A 20-year-old college student, Krishna Ramakant Pandit, took his life after losing a substantial amount of money on an online gaming and betting app. The tragic incident occurred at his residence in Nageshwar Society, Jamnagar Road.
The Heartbreaking Suicide Note
Krishna left behind a poignant suicide note, detailing the devastating impact of online gambling. He highlighted how such platforms mentally and financially ruin lives and urged others to stay away from this dangerous addiction. Addressing a close friend Priyansh, he expressed his last wish: the complete ban of online gambling. His note concluded with the words:
“Thank you so much, for the great life. Goodbye.”
Online Gambling: A Silent Killer
Krishna admitted to losing all his savings on a betting app called “Stake.” Despite multiple attempts by friends to help him overcome his addiction, he couldn’t break free, ultimately leading to his decision. In his note, Krishna apologized to his family, especially his parents, stating:
“Gambling addiction empties a person from within. This decision is solely mine, and no one else is to blame.”
He also expressed concern for his younger sister, urging the family to check on her regularly to ensure she doesn’t take any similar drastic steps.
Family Finds Krishna Lifeless
The family discovered Krishna hanging in his room and immediately alerted neighbors, who called emergency services. EMT Divya Barot declared him deceased on the spot.
Police Investigation Underway
Gandhigram police retrieved the suicide note from Krishna’s mobile phone and began an investigation. The note revealed that Krishna was overwhelmed by the financial losses incurred from gambling on an online app. His body was sent to a civil hospital for post-mortem.
A Promising Life Cut Short
Krishna, the eldest of three siblings, was in his first year of college. His father works for a private company on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway, and his sister is a 12th-grade student.
