15 Seconds of Tragedy: Rajkot College Girl Electrocuted in Water While Riding Two-Wheeler
On Tuesday, July 16th, two inches of rain in Rajkot caused severe flooding in the city. A 22-year-old woman driving on Nanamava Road collided with a streetlight pole due to the flooded road. She was electrocuted and collapsed at the scene. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, she was declared dead before any effective treatment could be administered. CCTV footage of the incident has been released, and the local police have registered the death as accidental and begun legal proceedings.
Woman Collapses After Electrocution from Electric Pole
Nirali Vinodbhai Kukadiya, a 22-year-old college student residing in Haridwar Heights B Wing, was riding her two-wheeler in the rain around 8 PM on Tuesday. As she passed by Satya Sai Hospital near Nanamava Road, she had an accident. She was electrocuted by a live wire from an electric pole and collapsed unconscious. A crowd gathered, and she was taken to a private hospital in Rajkot for treatment.
Family Rushes to Hospital
The family rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news, but Nirali was declared dead shortly after brief medical attention, leaving the family in mourning. The local police staff arrived at the hospital, sent her body for a post-mortem at Civil Hospital, and initiated necessary legal actions.
Street Light Department Notified
Rajkot Municipal Corporation Mayor Nayana Pehdia stated that the accident was tragic, but immediate action has been ordered for the street light department. The department has been instructed to repair or replace any open electric wires in Rajkot to prevent future accidents.
Maintenance Work Lapses Possible
It is noteworthy that maintenance work before the monsoon is mandatory, but there may have been lapses this time. This oversight likely caused the accident, resulting in the tragic loss of the young woman’s life.
