Rajiv Modi’s Alleged Misconduct: Bulgarian Woman Presents Audio Evidence in Conversation with Female Police, Further Hearings on December 8

Today, the evidence in the case of misconduct against Rajeev Modi, involving a Bulgarian young woman and a female police officer, was presented in the high court by the victim’s advocate as an audio recording. The government lawyer has requested more time in this context, and further hearings are scheduled for December 8th. The audio recording allegedly contains the conversation between the young woman and the female police officer.

What Is the Entire Case About?

The Chief Managing Director (CMD) of a renowned pharmaceutical company in Ahmedabad, Rajeev Modi, is accused by a Bulgarian young woman, who was once a flight attendant for the same company. Rajeev Modi faces charges related to sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking, as filed in the Gujarat High Court. The hearing for this case is scheduled for today. The court will review the plea before Justice Hasmukh Suthar. The accused is demanding a thorough investigation by either the CBI or an external agency due to the potential impact on the police.

Youth Labels the Case as “Rarest of the Rare”

In her petition filed at the High Court, the young woman has highlighted the role played by pressure tactics to suppress the case against Ahmedabad police. She has accused the police, especially ACP Himalaya Joshi, of issuing threats, mental harassment, and confiscation of documents. Allegedly, these threats were made to prove her allegations against Rajeev Modi. The victim has specifically requested the court to check CCTV and audio recordings from the Vastrapur Police Station, filing the application on April 20, 2023.

Filing an Affidavit to Verify the Audio Recording

Between April 11 and April 21, 2023, the victim visited the Vastrapur Women’s Police Station multiple times, urging ACP Himalaya Joshi to withdraw the case. She claims to have faced intimidation, threats, mental distress, and attempts to coerce her into retracting her statements. To substantiate her claims, the victim has filed an affidavit requesting the court to check the CCTV footage and audio recordings from April 20, 2023, at the Vastrapur Police Station.

The Youth Also Filed a Complaint with the National Commission for Women

On April 8, 2023, the young woman sent an email to the National Commission for Women (NCW), alleging sexual harassment by Rajeev Modi. She described daily incidents of sexual harassment, fear, career anxiety, threats, and the ordeal of loneliness. After joining the pharmaceutical company, she claimed to have fallen into depression within a year. The email also mentioned the firing of 50 young women by HR Johnson Matthew and Lead Director Rajeev Modi within a year. She expressed her fear but emphasized the need to speak out.
