21-Year-Old Woman Gang-Raped by 3 Men in Pune, Friend Also Assaulted

The government’s claims regarding women’s safety are turning out to be empty. Just as the aftermath of the Badlapur incident in Maharashtra is still ongoing, another tragic event has unfolded in Pune district. A 21-year-old woman, who was on a trip to Pune, was gang-raped by three individuals.

Brutal Assault on Woman and Her Friend During Pune Trip

When the woman’s friend resisted, the attackers assaulted him as well. The police have registered the woman’s complaint and initiated further investigation. According to available information, the woman had gone on a trip with a friend. 

Late at night, in a deserted area, three men caught hold of them. The accused then began harassing the woman. When her friend tried to intervene, they beat him up and proceeded to gang-rape the woman.

Pune Gang-Rape Incident: Police Launch Manhunt for Suspects

The police reported that the woman had gone to the Bopdev Ghat area with her friend late at night, where the gang-rape occurred around 11 PM. 

The police were informed about the incident at 5 AM. A search for the suspects is underway, with ten teams from the Crime Branch and the Detective Branch deployed for arrests.

NCP MP Targets Maharashtra Government Over Rising Violence Against Women

In light of the increasing incidents of rape in Maharashtra, NCP MP Supriya Sule has directed her criticism towards the state government, stating, “What is happening in Pune? Incidents of violence against women are continuously rising across the state, including Pune. 

The Home Department has not taken any stringent measures to prevent these incidents. Unfortunately, Maharashtra has become unsafe for women.”
