Protests in Ahmedabad Against Atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh: Human Chain Formed, Demand for Chinmay das Ji Maharaj’s Release
Amid ongoing protests in India against the atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh, a large human chain event was organized today (December 10) in Ahmedabad city. The event was a collaborative effort by the Hindu Hit Rakshak Samiti, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
The human chain was formed at Vallabh Sadan Riverfront, extending from Vallabh Sadan to Usmanpura Riverfront Park, between 8:30 AM and 9:15 AM. A special gathering was also held at the venue to address the concerns.
Religious Leaders and Officials Join Human Chain Protest in Ahmedabad
The Mahant of Jagannath Temple, Dilip Dasji Maharaj, participated in the protest event along with members of the BJP Sant Samiti and at least 150 individuals from various boards of Ahmedabad city. Swaminarayan sect saints, officials from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, BJP board presidents, and MLAs were also present at the Vallabh Sadan Riverfront from early morning.
Protesters carried banners and raised slogans demanding an end to atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. Chants like “Stop Atrocities in Bangladesh” echoed throughout the event. Slogans were also raised demanding the release of Chinmay das Ji Maharaj, further highlighting the concerns of the community.
“Condition of Hindus in Bangladesh is Shameful for Us”: Dilip Dasji Maharaj
Mahant Dilip Dasji Maharaj of Ahmedabad’s Jagannath Temple expressed his concerns about the dire situation faced by the Hindu community in Bangladesh. He stated, “The condition of Hindus in Bangladesh is shameful for us. Idols are being desecrated.”
He urged both the state and central governments to take steps to establish peace in Bangladesh and called for the swift release of the detained Swami. Emphasizing unity, he added, “We stand with the Hindu community and will always support them.”
“ISKCON Supporters Are Outraged”: Shyam Charan Das Ji
Shyam Charan Das Ji of the Bhadaj Hare Krishna Temple addressed the gathering, stating, “We have come together today for an important meeting. The atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh have not just been occurring for months but for many years. Idols have been desecrated, and priests have been murdered over time.”
He emphasized the anger among ISKCON supporters, saying, “Every individual should have the freedom to practice their religion, no matter the country. Strict action must be taken against those who violate this fundamental right.”
“Tomorrow is Mokshada Ekadashi”: Shyam Charan Das Ji
Shyam Charan Das ji further appealed to the Bangladeshi government to protect those who practice Sanatan Dharma. He highlighted the significance of Bangladesh as the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who never resorted to violence.
During the protest, devotional songs glorifying God were sung, reinforcing the commitment to spreading the teachings of Sanatan Dharma with the same dedication as saints and sages.
He reminded the audience about the spiritual importance of the upcoming Mokshada Ekadashi, saying, “Tomorrow marks the day when Lord Krishna delivered the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. It is an occasion to distribute copies of the Bhagavad Gita to express our unity and commitment to our faith. By adhering to its teachings, we are sure to achieve victory.”
“Hindus Are Safe When United”: Devang Dani
Devang Dani, Chairman of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee, addressed the gathering and condemned the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. He stated, “In protest against the atrocities and in support of Hindus in Bangladesh, the Hindu community across Ahmedabad has taken to the streets today, forming a human chain at the Riverfront.”
He issued a stern warning to the perpetrators, saying, “The Hindu community never attacks anyone, but if attacked, we will not tolerate it. This massive turnout today sends a strong message of unity and support for Hindus in Bangladesh.”
Dani emphasized the need for global solidarity, declaring, “We want to convey to the world that Hindus are safe when united. Even though Hindus in Bangladesh are fewer in number, the entire global Hindu community stands with them.”
“Hindus Are Being Forced to Flee”: Rohit Patel
Rohit Patel, President of Thakkarnagar Ward, expressed his concerns about the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh. He stated, “Hindus are facing severe atrocities in Bangladesh, with temples being demolished, priests harassed, and Hindus forced to flee their homes.”
He further highlighted that the event was organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to protest these injustices. Patel added, “A large number of people have gathered here, and more are joining to show their solidarity.”
“Hindus May Have to Take Up Arms for Self-Defense”: Dr. Bharat Patel
Dr. Bharat Patel, Gujarat Province’s Sangh Sanchalak, spoke about the significance of the protest. He stated, “This event in Ahmedabad is part of a nationwide movement. Our goal is to boost the morale of Hindus in Bangladesh, as they are fighting a tough battle—choosing to sacrifice themselves but not without taking down their oppressors.”
He emphasized the broad meaning of the term “Hindu,” which has been narrowed over time, leading to the preference for the term “Sanatani.” Dr. Patel added, “Sanatanis do not wield weapons by nature, but they must keep them at home. When necessary, they must be prepared to take up arms for self-defense.”
