Pre-Election Bliss for Healthcare Workers: Government Raises Salaries by 25% under National Health Mission
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Health Minister, the state government has decided to increase the salaries of healthcare workers by 25 percent under the National Health Mission (NHM).
Salary and Minimum Wage Increased
Based on an agreement under the National Health Mission, salaries of both technical and non-technical healthcare workers have been increased by 25 percent. This increase applies to 100 categories of technical and non-technical cadres. More than 26,000 healthcare workers in the state are expected to benefit from this decision.
Additional Increase in Appointment Time
This decision will be implemented from January 3, 2024. The government has made this decision after considering the demands of healthcare workers. The government will incur a monthly expenditure of Rs. 18.15 crore and an annual expenditure of Rs. 217.484 crore due to this decision.
Previous Salary Increase
Sixteen days ago, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had announced a 4 percent increase in the salaries of state government employees’ allowances from July 1, 2023. This benefit has been extended to 4.45 lakh government and panchayat employees as well as 4.63 lakh pensioners. The difference for the 8-month arrears of the increased allowances will be paid along with the salary for three months and the arrears will be cleared.
Arrears for 8 Months to be Cleared
The arrears for 8 months, i.e., from July 1, 2023, to February 2024, will be paid along with the salary for three months. Subsequently, the arrears for July-2023 to September-2023 will be paid with the salary of March-2024, and the arrears for October-December 2023 and January-February 2024 will be paid with the salary of May 2024.
