Police Raid in Karnataka: Cash, 103kg Silver, 3kg Gold Seized; ₹5 Crore and Jewelry Confiscated

A treasure worth crores has been discovered in the house of a shopkeeper in Ballari, Karnataka, just before the Lok Sabha elections. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid on the residence of a jewelry shop owner in the Brusapet Police Station area on Sunday. During the raid, the police confiscated Rs 5.60 crore in cash, three kilograms of gold, over 100 kilograms of silver jewelry, and 68 silver biscuits. The total estimated worth of the seized items is said to be Rs 7.60 crore. The police have informed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed regarding this incident, and the matter is currently under investigation.

As per the information available, the accused individual, Naresh, operates a jewelry shop. The police have confiscated a substantial amount of cash and jewelry from his residence. Additionally, the accused, Naresh, has been taken into custody by the police. There are suspicions of a hawala link in this case. Consequently, the police have registered a case under section 98. The shop owner will be referred to the Income Tax Department for further investigation.

The strictness has been heightened due to the Lok Sabha elections. It has been reported that two days ago, the Excise Department seized liquor valued at Rs 98.52 crore from the Chamarajnagar Lok Sabha constituency in the Mysore rural district of Karnataka. Additionally, the Income Tax Department and the Static Surveillance Team (SST) confiscated cash amounting to Rs 3.53 crore, as reported by the Election Commission. Further, during the investigation, cash totaling Rs 35 lakh was seized from the Gulbarga Lok Sabha constituency in the Kalburgi district, and Rs 45 lakh from the Udupi-Chikkamangaluru constituency.
