PM Modi’s Two-Day Visit to Gujarat: Grand Sindoor Yatra, Mega Development Projects, and New Vande Bharat Trains

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his two-day visit to Gujarat with a vibrant Sindoor Sanman Yatra (Respect March) in Vadodara on Sunday morning. The yatra, which began from Vadodara Airport and concluded at Milan Party Plot, was marked by enthusiastic participation from the local residents.

People lined the streets along the route to greet PM Modi, showcasing their support and admiration. A special moment during the procession was the participation of Colonel Sophia Qureshi’s family in the Sindoor Yatra.

This is PM Modi’s first visit to Gujarat after the successful Operation Sindoor.

Major Announcements and Inaugurations Across Gujarat

As part of his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various projects worth over ₹24,000 crore across multiple cities, including Dahod, Bhuj, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad.

Key Development Projects in Dahod and Bhuj

  • In Dahod, PM Modi will dedicate the country’s first-ever 9000 HP locomotive engine to the nation.
  • He will also launch several railway projects:
    • Doubling of Anand-Godhra, Mehsana-Palanpur, and Rajkot-Hadmatiya rail lines.
    • Electrification of 107 km Sabarmati-Botad rail line.
    • Gauge conversion of Kalol-Kadi-Katosan rail line.
  • Total railway-related inaugurations in Dahod amount to ₹23,292 crore.
  • Drinking water projects worth ₹181 crore will benefit 193 villages in Mahisagar and Dahod districts.
  • Dahod will also see new public infrastructure including the Municipal Office and an Adivasi Museum.

Infrastructure Projects Across Gujarat

In Bhuj, Gandhi Dham, and Surrounding Regions:

  • Development of the Center of Excellence in Gandhidham.
  • Temple complexes at Mata No Madh, Khatla Bhavani, and Chachar Kund.
  • Transmission system from the newly built Renewable Energy Zone in Khavda.
  • Cyclone-resistant underground power network in Gandhidham.
  • High-speed road corridor from Bhuj to Nakhatrana.
  • Construction of three Road Over Bridges in Kandla.
  • Development of tourism infrastructure at Dholavira.
  • Establishment of a green hydrogen production facility.

Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar to Witness Major Urban Projects

  • In Ahmedabad, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for:
    • Sabarmati Riverfront Phase-3 with a budget of ₹1,000 crore.
    • A massive IPD hospital facility with 18,000 beds including 500 beds for infectious diseases.
  • In Gandhinagar, the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center will be inaugurated.
  • On May 27, over 22,000 residential units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will be inaugurated at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.

Vande Bharat and Other Trains to be Flagged Off

  • On May 26, PM Modi will flag off two new train services:
    • Sabarmati–Botad Passenger Train
    • Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) – Somnath (Veraval) Vande Bharat Express
  • The new 8-coach Vande Bharat train will officially start operations from May 27, further enhancing Gujarat’s rail connectivity.

This visit marks a major milestone in Gujarat’s infrastructure and public service development, reflecting the government’s continued focus on modernization, connectivity, and regional upliftment.
