PM Modi Boosts Confidence in Indigenous Capabilities, Flies in Tejas Fighter Plane – A Great Experience
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a flight in a Tejas fighter plane in Bengaluru on Saturday, November 25. According to reports, PM Modi arrived at Bengaluru’s Yelahanka Airbase, where he successfully flew in the indigenous Tejas fighter aircraft.
In the Tejas fighter plane in Bengaluru, PM Modi experienced a remarkable journey, expressing increased confidence in the country’s indigenous capabilities. This flight marked a new sense of pride and hope for our national prowess.
Tejas, developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), is a single-engine light fighter aircraft. It has been integrated into the Indian Air Force with two squadrons.
LCA Engine to be Made in India
The engine of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mark 2, also known as Tejas Mk 2, and the first two squadrons of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) will now be manufactured in India. This decision holds great significance in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.
Dr. Satheesh Reddy, the head of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), announced that the engine would be developed jointly by American company GE Aerospace and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), with all approvals secured from the United States.

Nirmala Sitharaman: As Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI in Rajasthan on January 17, 2018. Wearing a G-suit, she sat in the rear seat, becoming the first woman Defense Minister to fly in a fighter jet.
Kiran Rijiju: Central Minister Kiran Rijiju flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI in May 2016. Taking off from the Halwara Airbase in Punjab, he experienced a supersonic jet for almost 30 minutes, reaching speeds of up to 2,100 km per hour.
Rajeev Pratap Rudy: BJP MP Rajeev Pratap Rudy flew in an Aero India air show in a Sukhoi-30MKI on February 19, 2015.
Rao Inderjit Singh: As the Minister of State for Defense, Rao Inderjit Singh flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI near the Hindon Airbase in August 2015.
Pratibha Patil: Former President Pratibha Patil, on November 25, 2009, flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI for approximately 30 minutes, becoming the first woman President to fly in a fighter jet.
APJ Abdul Kalam: On June 8, 2006, President APJ Abdul Kalam flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI for 30 minutes, experiencing supersonic speed.
George Fernandes: Defense Minister George Fernandes flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI in June 22, 2003, at the Lohegaon Air Force Station.
President Murmu Takes Flight in Sukhoi Jet: Becomes First Woman Co-pilot, Others Follow
On April 7, President Draupadi Murmu took a 30-minute flight in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet from the Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam. She became the first woman president to pilot a fighter jet, setting a historic precedent. Prior to her, former President Pratibha Singh Patil also flew in a Sukhoi.
